Did you know that the United States of America disposes of close to 300 million old tires each year? Odds are that you’ve replaced your tires on your truck or car at some point or another during your vehicle ownership. Most people don’t put much thought into tires beyond what the best truck tires and best car tires are for their needs.

Tire manufacturing is a complex art and a massive portion of the automotive industry. Without good tires, your car or truck would not be equipped to help you get from Point A to Point B.

The good news is that you’re in the right place to learn more about tire manufacturing and the different types of tires that are in use today. Keep reading to learn more!

Design Phase

The first part of tire manufacturing is the design phase. The manufacturer needs to focus energy on designing the sidewall, the beads, and the tread of the tire. The tread is the most important part of the design phase because it is what contacts and holds the road when you’re driving your vehicle.

Most times, the tire manufacturer will create a 3D model to get a better idea of what the finished product looks like. From there, they can test the tire to make sure that it is capable of everything that customers expect from the best car tires, like those which you can buy here.

Manufacturing Phase

The next step in tire manufacturing is the mass production of the tire in plants and factories. The raw ingredients that make up the tires will get mixed together. All of these materials will get mixed together at least three times and then they’re reheated to make the rubber nice and soft.

The rubber is then laid out in thin sheets, which makes it easier to use for the different parts of the tire. These layers are known as ply and they’re vital for creating the best truck tires. The last step involves heating the tires with steam, which makes the tires expand and harden.

Quality Control Phase

The quality control phase is the last part of the tire manufacturing process. The tire is completely assembled and ready to go at this point in time. The manufacturer will start examining the tire for any potential issues.

Tire density and strength is the first thing that gets looked at by quality control. You’ll also see these tires undergo testing to see how much it takes to destroy or damage them. They’re often pierced with metal spikes to see how they do with punctures.

X-rays are also used as the last step of quality control. The tire manufacturer uses the x-rays to look for any potential defects before shipping the tires off.

Now You Know How Tire Manufacturing Works

Tire manufacturing is vital to keeping cars and trucks on the roads and highways of the United States of America. It is important that you understand everything that goes into designing and producing the best truck tires and best car tires. Having the right tires is an important part of vehicle ownership.
